Name: Ysabel Boston
Achievement: Fraud Analyst
Year of leaving school: 2013
It doesn’t seem five minutes ago since the class of 2013 left Canon Lee, and it’s easy to say it was the best five years I could have asked for!
When I got my results, I was over the moon! A-C in all subjects! But, many will know sometimes the qualifying grades are not enough for A Level and I did not get into my sixth form of choice, nor the A Level courses at York College.
I was told I could join the BTEC Business Course at York College. Now, everyone seems to turn their noses up at BTEC course – I just do not see why? I did my full two years and passed with a Distinction in every module and triple Distinction overall in 2015.
This gave me more than enough points for University, which at first I did not want to go too. I wanted to go straight into work and work my way up. Until three days before deadline when I decided I wanted to apply to university! I wrote my statement and got a lovely letter of recommendation from my tutor. I received three unconditional offers: Northumbria University, Leeds Beckett and York St John University. I decided on the latter.
York St John just felt right, and it was the best decision I made!
After three years I graduated at York Minster (omg!) on 21 November 2018 with a High 2:1 in Business and Human Resource Management – and so many friends for life!
I have worked in York at TSYS International (Credit Card processor) since October 2018. I am a Client Service Analyst for fraud and authorisation analytics – it’s very interesting and is never the same every day!
I believe what I learnt through my time at Canon Lee has really shaped who I am today. And all the teachers during our time there should be incredibly proud of the 2013 leavers. I cannot speak for everyone, but from what I see on social media, I think we have all done pretty well for ourselves.
