Located between Rawcliffe and Clifton in York, Vale of York Academy (formerly Canon Lee School) opened in 1941 as a flagship community school; one of the first in the area to have specialist science and technology labs. At that time, the school was at the forefront of innovation, challenge and aspiration. Today the school has around 750 pupils, and has seen numerous changes. In January 2017 the school enters an exciting new era as Vale of York Academy, a sponsored academy under the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust. It has seen a change in leadership, a change of uniform and a new school ethos: “Always giving their best”.
