VALE OF YORK ACADEMY IS PART OF

Lord Mayor joins Vale of York to celebrate success

Vale of York Academy celebrated this week, as some of last year’s outgoing Year 11 students joined current students at a very special Awards Evening.

The Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Janet Looker and the Civic Party joined with staff, students and the school community to celebrate the achievements of its young people. Some students received subject prizes, whilst others received progress leader awards which celebrated high standards, excellent learning conduct and motivation to do their very best.

Principal, Toby Eastaugh, said “Vale of York Academy has been on a transformational journey over the last few years and it is vital that we recognise those young people who have played such a huge role in shaping the academy this far. They are justifiably proud of their school and their successes and we are immensely proud of them too.

“We are very grateful to the Lord Mayor for joining us on this special evening. Councillor Looker has been committed to the education of young people in our community for many years and it was fitting for her to attend alongside her son, Patrick, who is now our Chair of Governors.”

Guests enjoyed performances from Vale of York musicians and singers Henry West, Sam Steel, Theodora Valostergiou, Danny Western and Kai Ward.
